Senior Portrait Session Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When is the best time to schedule my senior session? I suggest that students schedule their senior portrait session the summer before their senior year begins. Of course you may schedule during the fall or whatever season you would like, but once a student begins their senior year, their schedule becomes very full and it can be difficult to squeeze in time for their session. Please check with your school for deadlines for yearbook photo submission.

  2. When do you schedule senior sessions? Sessions are usually scheduled Monday-Thursday evenings. Golden hour makes for the best photos. If early mornings work best for you or you need a weekend time, I can usually make accommodations for those requests. The length and location of your session will determine what time we start.

  3. How do I book session? I encourage your to reach out to me through the contact page on my website. I will contact you within 48 hours, and we will figure out a session date (and eventually a session location). I will get some information from you and send you a contract to electronically sign as well as an invoice for a session retainer. Your contract details what you can expect from me. Your session time is not reserved for you until your contract has been signed and retainer paid. I will also send you a model release contract. This allows for me to post your images on social media and to my website. If you would prefer for me NOT to use your images online, you do not need to sign this contract.

  4. What can I expect during my senior session? I am concerned first and foremost with making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I will show you the images in camera as I work so you know what I am seeing and you can give feedback as we are working together. Please share your ideas with me. I try to get a mix of tighter images of the face as well as full body photos. It is my goal to not only create amazing photos with you, but to make sure you have a great time during your session.

  5. What if the weather is bad during our session? Please don’t worry about the weather too far in advance as the forecast frequently changes. I will keep an eye on the forecast for you, and we can reschedule if need be.

  6. I have facial blemishes. Can you remove them in my photos? Yes, I do basic retouching on all images. If more significant editing is necessary to cover blemishes, a retouching fee may apply.

  7. Who can I bring to my session? I encourage you to bring a mom, dad, sibling, or friend to your session to help you feel more comfortable and to help make sure the details of your hair, make-up, and clothing are perfect throughout your session. I ask that you bring only those who will be encouraging and helpful to you during our time together.

  8. When/how do I pay for my session? The balance of your session fee is due at the time of your session. Cash (preferred) and checks are both accepted forms of payment.

  9. What can I expect after my session? It generally takes 1-2 weeks for me to edit your photos. When I am done editing your photos, I will upload them to a gallery and send you the gallery link. In the gallery you are able to download photos, turn photos into black and white images (if desired), and order prints, print packages, and other forms of wall art. You are able to share the gallery link with whomever you would like. Those with whom you share the link are also able to download images and purchase prints.
